Outback NSW

We moved! Out west! Way West and everything out here lacks the sense of urgency that we as former Sydney siders are accustomed to... Where else would you ever have to wait 11 weeks for slower and more expensive internet! 

Life in a tiny country town is different and our new lifestyle has really made a difference to our family.

Miss Adalia has come out of her shell. Her new school with only ten kids has really pushed her to interact with others and she feels that she is part of something special. She loves getting up in the morning and getting ready for school. Our little animal lover is really in her elements here, rescuing animals and spotting them is a daily occurrence and has become a fun experience. 

So far we had mob of Kangaroos come and visit, close encounters with families of Emus and watching eagles in their natural habitat and then there is always running away from goannas, butterflies daily and Masses of Frogs!

 As for me (Daddy) I have to travel through bushland to get to work and have had the opportunity to go four wheel driving almost daily, getting bogged (all four wheels), driving behind a mob of about 12 to 15 Brumbies and seeing nature at its best.

Malachi, well has really grown up. He catches a bus, all by himself, to go to school, which is about 45km away, with the bus ride taking about about an hour. Malachi is the big boy in the bus (even though he is the littlest). He has to be the first on the bus and if there is a little person crying because the bus thing is very scary, he would hold their hand and tell them, "Don't cry, your big now. Sit down next to me, I'll take care of you." He has also made friends with a lovely 17 year old girl from our town. She catches the bus with him, if he is not sitting next to his crew the two other four year old's on the bus, he will sit next to this girl. When a boy her age tries to sit next to her, he will get out of his seat and say, "Sorry, I love her you can't sit there. The only person who can sit next to her is the girl with the bracelets (the girl has braces)".

Our little Serena, well she is one of the locals. She even has the lingo down telling every one "G'day mate." She has blended so well that one of the teenagers here asked Vienna if she is half indigenous. Lets say that Serena has become one with the land. 

We had dramas in Sydney trying to get her to keep her clothes on, out here she tries hard to work on her tan any chance she gets.

We do miss having the convenience of the Sydney outskirts lifestyle. Vienna's crazy, anytime Coca Cola, problem has really been affected. Our closest shop being about one hour away has tamed down the Cola cravings. For me, left overs have taken the place of Drive through dinners, driving 119km for Macca's is a little extreme! But in the long run I think this will help the waistline and the bank balance!!

Life here is a slower pace and after the initial shock Vienna felt at of having "no where to be", "nothing to do" (if you can ever say that in a family where the five and under's outnumber the parents) and the chore altering lack of a dishwasher, we are beginning to enjoy leaving the car in the garage and getting back to a few of the basics! Although, it would be a misrepresentation not to mention how we have looked forward longingly to getting the Web back in our home! 

Life is good and so very different, only one small piece of advice when considering a move away from the conveniences you took for granted, don't need a doctor out here because they are few and far between literally! More on that later!
