Recently we attended a Jr Trek run by our Church. It was a WONDERFUL day in which the children were entertained and educated as to the lives of Pioneers.
I think dressing the kids in period outfits was fun and made for some cute photos. Brace yourself for lots of photos as we were out for 5hour...
Normally that i a little too long for my lot but on this occasion and despite walking for a great deal of that time we all seemed to enjoy the entire day.
Some of the activities included were;
Collecting firewood and learning how to "pile" a fire tee pee AND start it using flint.
Walking through ice water
"Pa" helped Malachi learn some string games
Adalia needed a little less help
We made corn cob Scarecrow/Dolls
Learned to seek simple entertainment
Raced up and down the hills
Malachi did his best to free these seed... But when blowing failed
He gave it an absent minded flick!
(I love this photo)
Serena had a blast with this little boy... more on that later!
We had running races
Played tip
Malachi wanted to fish and consequently carried his "fishing rod" for over an hour
We had lessons on our "Slates"
Malachi loved his slate and it's bad
The children all received wrist tie (in bright colours)
Malachi wore his as a neck tie for a while.
Learned how to chop wood...
I sewed their little bonnets, aprons and suspender last minute and with a "youtube pattern"... I was pretty happy with the result.

Beautiful photos!
Did adalia make it the whole way balancing?
Good work on the outfit too... glad you went!
Not even close... And Malachi jumped as soon as his foot touched the branch! But they have been practicing their balancing ever since!
That is SO cool. They look so cute in their costumes and the photos are gorgeous.
That looks like such a fun activity. I wish they did that while we were there. It looks like your kids had a ball!
WoW! AMAZING outfits - well done - you can see the love your children have for each other - Adalia is a stunner!!
